Blackshaws alloy wheel repair process
At Blackshaws we are specialists in alloy wheel Smart repairs and are pleased to offer advice and a no obligation quote for any repair work. Once we have confirmed a price with you and your vehicle is booked into our Smart Repair Bodyshop we will carry out a detailed examination of all damage to your alloy wheels. The first part of our process is to prepare, dress and fill in any scuffs or dents to the rim edges and face of your alloy wheel. At the next stage your wheels will undergo specialist heat and thermal treatment to remove any air before a new hard wearing lacquer coat is applied using a wet-on-wet process. Once your alloys have been coated with new lacquer paint this will help to protect them from future environmental damage caused by salt, moisture and general road dirt. The centre caps of your alloy wheel can either be cleaned or painted depending on whether you have plastic or metal caps and we will discuss options with you prior to commencing any work.
At Blackhaws we always aim to give your wheels the best possible finish and we always guarantee to improve them. However the final quality will depend on the condition of the wheels prior to repair. Please be aware that if your alloy wheels are particularly badly dented or buckled it may not be possible to repair them due to safety considerations. In these circumstances we will recommend that your wheels are written off and replaced.
Maintaining your alloy wheels
After we have repaired your alloy wheels we suggest they are cleaned using a mild detergent such as washing up liquid and hot water. Please note that the highly acidic cleaning solutions used in jet washes and some alloy wheel cleaners may attack and break down the lacquer coating if used repeatedly over a period of time.
